Police have deployed heavily in different points in Kiseka Market in downtown Kampala city to stop angry supporters of the ousted Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago from protesting.

Kisekka market is a known center of opposition protests and police are routinely stationed there to avert anti-government riots.

Police have blocked opposition members from visiting the market.

“We have deployed security personnel in uniform and plain clothes 300 meters away from the market to stop opposition members who announced that they would be visiting the traders,” said Sam Omala, the regional operation commander in charge of Kampala North.

Omala has called upon all business people to resume work. He warned all organizers of the protests that they would be dealt with severely if they attempt to interfere with the smooth-running of business.
