HUNDREDS of Makerere University students from the College of Computing and Information Sciences (COSIS) Monday went on strike over missing marks.

The furious students said that they had complied with the University policy of paying all tuition fees as a prerequisite to sit for exams but the University had not delivered on its promise to deliver results promptly.

The students carried placards with most of them reading, “We want our results now”, and marched to the main building, Makerere’s administrative seat where they demanded to meet the deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Finance and Administration Prof Barnabas Nawangwe.

The students claimed that their results for last semester had not been uploaded online and that their efforts to seek explanations from the college authorities proved futile since the latter refused to speak to the students.

Makerere publishes results of students online and the results are only accessible to the students with the aid of their respective student numbers.

The students also complained of the lack of internet at their college before revealing that their lecturers were habitually dodging tutorials. Prof Nawangwe promised to address the students’ grievances immediately.
