Bukalasa Agriculture College administration in Luweero District has tentatively suspended meals fee for the non-resident students ending a two-week student’s unrest.

Luweero District Resident District Commissioner, Paul Lubowa, announced the suspension of the meals fee for non-resident students on behalf of a stakeholders meeting which was attended by students’ representatives, College Governing Council and Luweero District Security Committee members at the College.

"We have resolved to suspend the meals fee until further notice. We have also resolved to have guidelines tightened to regulate ways in which meals have been served to students to ensure that students who have not paid for meals don’t get it. The meals will be served at the students’ respective hostels". Lubowa said.

Police on Tuesday fired tear gas to disperse students in a violent strike, contaminating food with liquid soap, urine and sand which was to be served to other students. The strike was against a school new policy of all non-resident (in service) students to pay sh354, 000 for the meals.
