Archbishop warns on church land

People who are in the habit of grabbing church land must desist because the land belongs to God, His Grace Arch Bishop of the Province of Uganda, has warned.


Stanley Ntagali said whoever is doing so should know that he or she is inviting curses upon their families.

Ntagali, who was accompanied by the Bishop of Soroti Church of Uganda Diocese, George William Erwau said church land grabbers are a big issue in the country.

Ntagali was speaking to hundreds of Christians at Serere primary school on Tuesday.

“If you’re grabbing church land, it is Gods land. Some where you are inviting a curse on your families, and children,” he said.

The Arch Bishop, who is touring Teso Dioceses to fundraise for the church house under construction in Kampala, said he has gone to many dioceses throughout the country but the issue of land grabbing is the same.

He also warned the clergy, politicians and civil servants those in public offices handling public monies not to get attempted to it.

“You steal public money to buy land, build house, make a good farm, the inspector general of heaven in looking at you” Ntagali said.

Earlier on before addressing Christians, Ntagali commissioned the storage house under construction for computer lab in Sunrise secondary school planted trees, and computer lab in Serere Secondary school and blessed the candidates.

He applauded the generosity of the Christians who have contributed money towards the completion of the church house.

During the fundraising Provincial Head of Laity, Christine Kintu, Mulimira[Mrs] disclosed that over sh60m has been collected by Christians towards the construction of the church house.

According to her the amount is a collections for Soroti Diocese during the tour of the Archbishop, in the following dioceses of Kapelebyong, Katakwi, Amuria, Kaberamaido, Kalaki , and Serere.

During the fundraising some members of parliament including the intended aspirants contributed cash pledges, while many Christians offered many things including turkeys.

Bishop Erau said the Archbishop will be concluding with the fundraising drive at the main church in Soroti Town today.
