A primary five pupil of Buganda Road primary school, together with a bodaboda rider were Tuesday morning crashed by a Fuso Lorry that failed to brake.

The early morning accident along Kyagwe Road, opposite Equatorial shopping complex claimed the lives of
Jude Mugisha, 11,  and Constatine Nsibambi, the bodaboda rider.

An eyewitness, Godfrey Ssekungu, said the South Sudan registered Fuso truck, number NO CE 722E which was carrying fuel failed to brake and slammed into the bodaboda, killing the boy on spot, while Nsibambi died on his way to hospital.

Wamala Kasozi, a bodaboda cyclist at Arua Park blamed a traffic police officer as the cause of the accident.

He said the truck driver, who wanted to continue to Arua Park, warned the traffic officer that his truck had faulty brakes and could not slope towards Kyaggwe Road as the officer had directed.

Usually to create order in the early morning rush hour,  traffic is a one-way from Arua Park along Kyaggwe Road joining Bombo Road.

Vehicles coming from Kampala Road to join Kyaggwe Road are only allowed to slope.

When the truck driver failed to brake he swerved the truck, ramming into the bodaboda.

"The driver informed the traffic policeman that the truck had faulty brakes but he insisted hence the causing the accidents," Kasozi said.
