A notorious crime gang based in Kisenyi, a Kampala suburb, has reportedly blacklisted ten residents suspected to have whistle blown on their 'commander's' whereabouts consequently leading to his death.

Yasin Wadimba aka 'Dog Patrol,' a long wanted criminal died on Sunday after security agents, including police and plain clothed operatives, rounded up Social Center in Kisenyi where he had been attending a birthday party for a friend's kid.

Wadimba was the head of the notorious 'kifeesi' crew of thugs and was wanted over an array of crimes including armed robbery and murder.

On Sunday, according to an eyewitness, Wadimba who was in the company of his crew members put up a fight as security cornered him. In the ensuing scuffle he was subdued, but with grievous injuries.

He was bundled and put on a police Pickup truck, and taken to Musajjaalumbwa police post. However he had to be rushed to Mulago hospital when his condition worsened. He later died of his injuries.

At this point his crew tried to defeat the Police and started pelting them with stones. They were however outnumbered and sent scattering when police fired in the air.

Later the thugs vowed to avenge his death and reportedly blacklisted several residents, including a policeman, whom they accused of cooperating with police to have Wadimba arrested.

A terrified resident was later seen packing her belongings onto a Pickup and fled the area. She said she had young children to raise and would not wait to see thugs wreaking havoc.

Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango however said police only arrived to rescue Wadimba after they got reports that residents were lynching a thug.

He said Wadimba was a known city criminal and had been evading them for long.
