Baseball: Ugandans eye glory

Uganda will send two teams to the Little League European/Africa Regional baseball tournaments in Poland in July following the National Little League ending at Nakilebe, Mpigi district on Wednesday.

Uganda will send two teams to the Little League European/Africa Regional baseball tournaments in Poland in July following the National Little League ending at Nakilebe, Mpigi district on Wednesday.


The league has the 11- 12 years and 13-14 years all-star teams.

After four days of action, the tournament ends with Jinja and the AVRS schools battling in the 11-12 years category.

In the 13-14 years old tournament, AVRS will face Lugazi in a championship game.

Teams represented in the league include Lugazi Mehta, Waveland Academy Gulu, Life Care Baseball Bwaise, Kampala and Ropha Luwero.

The other teams are East Cardinals Jinja, Maple Lira, Allen VRS and Namirembe Parents Primary school.

The 13-14 category had the Bwaise-based Life Care, Allen VRS, Nile Hammers Arua and Lugazi Mehta.

The winner in the Poland event will automatically qualify for the World Little League Series.

The global competition will be held in the United States in August.
