DEMOCRATIC Party (DP) president general, Norbert Mao, is admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at International Hospital Kampala.

Dusman Okee, Mao’s younger brother said Mao was rushed to Hospital on Sunday after developing a high temperature.

“We always have dinner together but on Sunday, as we were enjoying our dinner, he started shivering and we rushed him to hospital thinking that we were just coming to do tests, but when we reached, the temperature was too high,” he said.

Okee said that Mao is in ICU to help doctors monitor him closely and also limit visitors.

“The president will be out of here within three days. People should not be alarmed. He can eat. Actually this afternoon, he has been enjoying his favourite dish, ‘Boe’, an Acholi dish,” he said.

Speaking to New Vision, Naomi Achieng, wife to Mao requested the media to give her privacy.

“Let me first compose myself. I will talk to you later. And please respect my privacy,” she said.

Naomi who is pursuing her studies in Nairobi, came back to Uganda on Monday but will return to Nairobi to finish her examinations. She will come back next week.

Masaka District Democratic Party (DP) Chairperson Fred Mukasa Mbidde, who visited Mao advised DP members to be calm because their president will soon be out of the hospital.

“I visited him having ideas as reflected in tabloids, we have spoken and he is getting better, he has maintained his humorous content. He has been counseling and giving me life tips. DP Members should go on with their work, our president is still alive,” Mbidde said.
