Professionals have been warned against exploiting the poor to amass wealth, because God will punish them and the curse will be passed onto their off spring.

The warning was sounded by the rector St. Joseph Seminary Nyenga Rev Fr. Eugene Safari early this week at St. Kalori Catholics church Ggaba, where hundreds of different Catholic professionals converged to a one day retreat to reflect on their professional services.

The retreat organized by Gaba Catholic Professional Association (GCPA)   attracted students from various universities, legislators, lawyers, medical doctors, health workers economists, business community, among others

Safari said a profession is something a little more than a job, it is a career for someone who wants to be part of society, who becomes competent in their chosen sector through training; maintains their skills through continuing professional development and commits to behave ethically, to protect the interests of the public.

He said Ugandans have turned their professionals into “Man eats where he works,”  Some Ugandan professionals in various specialties use   dubious means to cheat the poor ones, and immerse more wealth, it is high time they changed.”

GCPA   is a member-driven non-profit organization that fosters transatlantic knowledge-sharing, networking, charity work among the Christian professionals, country wide.

He warned the professionals that it is good to acquire wealth for development, but wealth should be got without killing the innocent ones, taking bribes, stealing the poor people’s property including land.

Professor Augustus Nuwagaba  the managing consultant of REEV Consult International and a poverty eradication consultant in the African region, warned professionals never to shun jobs

He said “I advise unemployed graduates to do whatever job comes their way if legally acceptable, as they wait for better jobs. I keep telling my students that before they get the job they studied for, they should do any job that is available.

“Do not accept to be poor when there are things to do. If the job you studied for eventually comes along. Find something to do and earn a living.”
