As the national amateur golf team celebrated winning the Zone V1 Africa Golf Championship last Saturday, a group of four Ugandan lady golfers were misfiring in South Africa.

Uganda lady golfers Flavia Namakula, Irene Nakalembe, Eva Magala and Gloria Mbaguta found the Sanlam South Africa Amateur Stroke Play Championship at the Glendower Golf Club too hot to handle.

The news that Uganda had won the Africa championship must have excited the quartet, in the process forgetting about their own game.

Magala and Namakula were, part of the gallery at the Africa championship at Kitante on Friday before they left for the South African championship.

Namakula even had time to send a congratulatory message to the Ugandan team on social media

The three-day, 54 hole championship at the Glendower Golf Club had Nakalembe returning a gross score of 255 ( 93, 84, 78) over three rounds to emerge as the best scorer on the Ugandan contingent.

But that was 35 strokes off the winning score posted by South African Ivanna Samu who emerged overall winner.

Flavia Namakula and Eva Magala returned were 55 strokes off while Gloria Mbaguta, was 69 strokes off.
