DRAMA ensued on Friday when a group of youth stormed the home of the Kasese Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in Kilembe Quarters in Kasese municipality.

The group stormed Ferigo Kambale’s residence just after 1:00pm demanding that he contests as Kasese Municipality MP in the forthcoming elections in 2016.  James Mbahimba is the incumbent MP of the municipality.

“We have been delegated by the NRM party Youth League in Kasese Municipality to ask you to contest for the seat of member of parliament and please don’t less us down”, Moris Muhindo leading the group said.

Muhindo who is the Chairperson of the Kasese Municipality NRM youth league added, “This  time we want leaders who have the heart to initiate projects that can help the youth to find self-employment and not those who only boast of programmes initiated by government”.

The Secretary Kasese Municipality NRM Youth League, Rogers Baluku who had earlier in the day tipped the press about their move said, “We want leaders who are creative and who will not forget their electorates after using them to go to parliament”.

The group who never uttered anything about the incumbent area MP James Mbahimba,  hailed Mr. Ferigo Kambale for attempting to assist the youth, men and women, by organizing trainings in various vocational skills which they said had helped them to create employment for themselves.

Ferigo Kambale whom they were addressing as Papa Kambale is a Director of a community based organization called Big Heart Foundation (BHF) which for the last four years has been engaged in organizing trainings in vocational skills for the youth in Kasese district.

A number of the youth especially in Kasese municipality have been trained in making classic bricks, tailoring, hairdressing, welding, carpentry and guided by the CBO (BHF) to form groups geared to fighting unemployment.

Receiving an endorsement certificate from the group, Ferigo Kambale said, “My friends, I appreciate the confidence and the hope you have in me but you should know that I am a civil servant who must not participate in active and open politics”.

But before Kambale could finish the sentence, one from the group interrupted him talking at the top of his voice and said, “We are not fools for us to come to you demanding that you should represent us in parliament. We know what we are saying. We have resolved”, Sanyeri Thembo, the chairperson of the bodaboda riders in Kasese municipality retorted.

In response, a humbled Kambale said, “my friends do not worry. Give me some two months to give you a concrete answer but remain calm and focused and thank you for appreciating what the Big Heart Foundation is doing”.
