A 26-year old man who fired four bullets into Top pub bar a long William street, leaving its bouncer dead, has been sentenced to eighteen years' imprisonment for murder.

High Court judge Elizabeth Alividza Thursday convicted Deogratius Ilukor, a former employee of Hash security, on his own plea of guilty and sentenced him to eighteen years for murder.

“Since you have not wasted the court's time and are remorseful, I sentence you to eighteen years and six months' imprisonment,” Alividza said.

Court heard that in October 6, 2013, while at Top pub along William Street, Ilukor murdered Johnson Rukundo, a bouncer at the bar.

Prosecution said that on that fateful day, Ilukor left the communications room at his work place with a pistol, went to Top Pub and fired four bullets injuring six people and killing one on spot.

Principal state attorney Florence Akello told court that while fleeing the scene, the convict left the pistol behind.

She said the whole incident was as a result of a disagreement between the convict and the deceased over a woman only identified as Aisha, who was a sex worker at the pub.

The convict, when asked by the judge why he fought for a woman yet he was married, said he had just received his monthly salary and the bouncer plus other people at the bar, took all his money, so he wanted it back.

He said it is a mistake he regretted greatly and apologized to the family of the deceased for the loss he had caused them. “I have learnt my lessons and I am now a reformed person.”

Earlier, the judge had given him twenty years but since he had spent one and a half years on remand, reduced it to eighteen years and six months.

Meanwhile, the judge also convicted and sentenced three iron bar robbers to Luzira prison over aggravated robbery, on their own plea of guilty.

Ronald Mbazira was sentenced to 11 years after being charged with two counts of aggravated robbery.

Court also heard that on the same day and in the same area, Mbazira and others still at large, attacked a business woman, Shallot Natukunda and robbed her of sh200, 000, four mobile phones and a TV.

Derrick Lukyamuzi and Richard Matovu were sentenced to eighteen years and four months for robbery.

Court heard that in July 24, 2013, the convicts and others still at large while at Stella Zone Najjanakumbi, Rubaga division, robbed Hajji Musa Ndungu off six mobile phones and two laptops and immediately hacked a one Shamin Kaitesi off her hand. She was in the same house with Ndungu.

Court also sentenced Zephaniah Bachu to ten years and seven months imprisonment after charging him with four counts of robbery.

Court heard that in October 30, 2013, Bachu and others still at large robbed Allan Kibuka of a mobile phone, DVD player, laptop, satellite decorder and intimidated him with an AK47 rifle.

On the same date, he robbed a one Martha Kazinda off her makeup, jewelry and hand bag. He also robbed a one Edson Kakuzi off fifty five thousand shillings and a phone.
