Iganga accident kills 3, injures 5

Three people died instantly and five others were admitted at Iganga main hospital in critical condition after a taxi they were moving in lost control before ramming into a road side signpost March 24.

Three people died instantly and five others were admitted at Iganga main hospital in critical condition after a taxi they were moving in lost control before ramming into a road side signpost March 24.

The dead were identified as Farouk Kyebatenda, the driver, Simon Mulengi and Richard Wabwire both residents of Busia.

The accidentoccured at around 7am March 24 at Nakalama village,3 kilometers along the Iganga to Bugiri highway.

According to an eyewitness,Sande Kirya said the speeding taxi registration number UAV 327 Y belonging to WK IMPACT company in Iganga.

Some of the injured who sustained broken legs and hands were indentified as Farouk Mukose,Grace Muzahamu,and Peter Basika, the conductor.

The officer in charge traffic at Iganga central police station,William Bariyo attributed the accident to over speeding besides bad weather as a result of the heavy rains.
