She has hardly spent two months playing for Loughborough Lightning, but Peace Proscovia has fast-become the biggest star in the England Netball Super League.

The She Cranes netball star is the equivalent of what Wayne Rooney is to English football or what Cristiano Ronaldo is to Spanish football.
In summary, Proscovia has become a huge brand and not just to the club, but to children in England.

The Ugandan multi-talented athlete, who joined England’s professional league in January, has become a crowd favourite despite her club’s indifferent start to the season.

Proscovia claimed back to- back player of the match awards in her club’s first two season games before losing to defending champions Thunder Dome from Manchester 68-52 over the weekend.

However, that didn’t stop young children from chanting her name and holding her banners from the pavilion.

It was a dream come true for those she signed autographs for and took pictures with after the game.

Before the game against Thunder Dome in Manchester, Proscovia portrayed her religious beliefs as stated on her Facebook page.

“On my way to Manchester, God may your will be done in my life, I know I am nothing but out of nothing you have made me something,” she stated.

Lesson

Proscovia's cult status in England is a reminder and lesson for Ugandans on how to appreciate special talent.

The lanky athlete has yet to gather star recognition in her own country despite propelling the country to both the Netball World Cup in August and the Afro Basketball Championships later in September.

“The challenges we face today are a sign that something good is prepared for you ahead. So you either accept the challenge and thank God for it or you burry yourself in it and be blind to see what God has destined for you,” Proscovia said.
