Police: Kayihura is still Police chief

The Police have dismissed as baseless reports that the Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura was transferred to the Ministry of Defence.

“There has been false information in the social media that the Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura was transferred to the Ministry of Defence, as minister. This information has not reached our desk and we are not aware of such developments. We would like to disassociate our self from such rumors,” a statement issued Monday stated.

The police caution the public against information obtained social media. Any information regarding Police activities are normally posted on the Police face-book account and not on individual accounts, the statement added.

“Such important information normally comes from State House and not from us. What we know, is that Gen. Kale is still the Inspector General of Police,” police clarified.
