FUFA president Moses Magogo has warned that only regions that can secure land in the names of the federation will benefit from the FIFA goal project which the country expects later this year.

But Magogo said that they have already communicated to the eight regions around the country to secure land titles in names of FUFA as a prerequisite to benefit from the project.

“We need confirmation from the regions that they have the land for us to build the grounds. Otherwise we cannot be convinced that it is safe to invest where we cannot ascertain ownership of the land,” Magogo explained.

The federation has announced FIFA’s consent to offer Uganda yet another (fifth) $600000 (sh1.7b) goal project to establish football grounds in its regions.

“This money may not be sufficient for the project but hope to continue expecting other approvals from FIFA to complete these projects,” Magogo explained.

He said that Western and Eastern regions are already communicated to the federation that their regions are already processing documents for FUFA to own land for football grounds in the respective regions.

FUFA’s decision to establish grounds at regional levels is a change of mind after the vice president administration Justus Mugisha said last year that they planned to build grounds around Kampala city to generate income. The federations since bought a radio station instead.
