Laftaz starts year in style

Laftaz comedy lounge at Centenary park has slowly crawled out of the woodworks to become one of, if not, the best comedy hub in the country at the moment.

This was portrayed last week at the official opening of this year's shows.

The gates, as is usually the case most Wednesdays were open by 6:00pm to embrace the legion of fans who, had seemingly gone on a comedy leave in the festive season.

They came in droves, in all ages and sizes, and if at this point, one had an idea of what would ensue later, they'd fear for the old ones, the grannies around for they risked laughing their ribs into fractures.

The show was hosted by the ever so versatile and eloquent Prince Emmah who also, recently, supposedly to the betterment of his joke cache, added Napoloene to his stage names. 

And at close to 8:30, he welcomed the crowd but even as an MC, the laughter he evoked from the crowd put him at the risk of breaking into a performance and abandoning his job.

His short jokes about the transition of Uganda's education in the villages warmed the crowd for what he called "the crazy duo" of Mad rat and Chico.

Their jokes, albeit delivered on a Luganda platter, were as "mad" as their names. They perhaps, went overboard with their sex jokes, but they defined the extremity of hilarity. 

Snake and  Zolo showed, again, that they are another insane  duo to watch out when they did  a couple of practical jokes  about dance strokes in bars.

Bright Onak would pop in to bash his boss, Dolibondo Unstresser Babangida alias Felix Jesero whose refusal to perform to the anticipating crowd who up to this point, thought he was the main act, became a big joke.

Because he walked onto stage, made a funny facial expression and simply walked off without saying a word to send the crowd into a deafening laughter.

He later came back and like  the maestro he is, took the crowd through a number of jokes that though bordered on Uganda's lifestyle.

Many other comedians performed before the end of the show at close to 11:00pm.
