Man arrested hawking gun

A man was arrested Friday afternoon selling a pistol in Kasubi, a Kampala suburb. Edirisa Kasalirwe, 25, of Kinoonya zone, was arrested and taken to Wandegeya police.

A man was arrested Friday afternoon selling a pistol in Kasubi, a Kampala suburb. Edirisa Kasalirwe, 25, of Kinoonya zone, was arrested and taken to Wandegeya police.
 
His arrest came after a tip off by concerned residents who saw the information technology graduate with a pistol looking for potential buyers.

Kasalirwe was trailed by police and arrested but a colleague he was moving with fled.

Kasalirwe was carrying a black bag that contained the gun. The bag also contained an army uniform, a beret, shoes, belt, torch and implements used to pick locks.

He claimed a friend of his who lays bricks gave him the gun to look for market at sh500,000.

However when police searched Kasalirwe's home they found nothing. The Wandegeya station district police commander, Julius Ceaser Tusingwire, said they would establish if the gun has been used in any crime. The case is registered on file number CRB: 997/13.
