Titus Tugume bt Szabo Sador Tibor (Hungary) - Unanimous decision

He is very happy for winning the fight, but kickboxer Titus Tugume has as well come out strongly against the mistreatment he received from the promoters of his none title five-round fight against Hungary’s Szabo Sador Tibor at Agip Motel in Mbarara on Good Friday.

Tugume, who registered a unanimous decision win over the Hungarian, says he was deserted by the organizers immediately after the fight and he had to risk his way out to his residence in Kafunjo, 9km on Mbarara-Ibanda road.

BK promotions is the company that had organized the Mbarara fight.

“I was expecting these guys to help me get means to my place, but I was surprised that nobody was around at the time the fight ended. They did not even give me any money, I tried to call them but there were no answers,” a furious Tugume said.

However he was quick to cool down the anger saying after all, that’s the difficulty all sportsmen first go through before they realize their goals. Efforts to reach out to BK’s Kasenene were futile.

The promoters had denied the local journalists entry, demanding 20,000 entry fees, which forced many away.

Golola warned

The Tugume Vs Tibor fight was a tune-up fight for Tugume ahead of his East African title show down with fellow countryman Moses Golola in June.

After the victory, Tugume has shown confidence and given out a serious warning to Golora ahead of their meeting.

“I have managed to shut down Tibor with his better experience than Golola. This gives me the confidence that the Golola fight will just be a walk over, though I will not hurry it inorder to give the fans value for their money,” the confident fighter said.

He climbed to the helm of Uganda’s kickboxing after registering a knock out (KO) against Farouk Kimera on Boxing Day last year to retain his national title.
