China hails Uganda on economic growth

The visiting vice minister of Chinese International department, Chen Fengxiang has held talks with the Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi on strengthening relations.

The visiting vice minister of Chinese International department, Chen Fengxiang has held talks with the Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi on strengthening bi-lateral relations.

Fengxiang a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) commended the NRM party for maintaining economic growth at 7% over the 20 years it has been in power.

“China holds NRM party and the people of Uganda in high regard. Over the 20 years under President Yoweri Museven’s rule you have maintained social economic development at 7%,” Fengxiang said.

The Communist Party of China (CPC) donated 90 desktop computers and 22 printers.

Fengxian said his party and the ruling party have maintained close relationship and pledged for more cooperation.

“We have had close relationship as a party and we look forward to deepening the relationship,” Fengxian said.

The two parties signed a memorandum of understanding. Rugunda the ICT minister signed on behalf of NRM while Fengxian pended his signature on behalf of his party.

Amama Mbabazi appreciated the Chinese support in social transformation of the economy in the country citing building capacity on defence and security sector and others.

“China was the first and only country willing to support Uganda to build capacity to have its own defence industry providing ammunitions,” Mbabazi said.

He informed the guest that the army is now repairing guns.

He also thanked the CPC Party for fulfilling what they had promised to do for example extending invitation for study tours of NRM youth and women leaders to China.

The meeting was attended by members of central executive committee; the NRM chairman of electoral commission Ruhakana Rugunda, Richard Tadwong the minister without portfolio and in charge of political mobilization, Jacqueline Mbabazi the women’s league leader.

Others were; Kabakumba Matsiko the chairperson institution league, Sulaiman Mayanja the general secretary for the PWDs, Hassan Galiwango in charge of finance and David Mafabi the presidential advisor.
