Abdullah Mubiru, a former assistant to George Nsimbe has been named the new coach at KCCA Football Club.

Mubiru was confirmed during Nsimbe’s farewell dinner held at Arirang Hotel on Tuesday after the team’s 2-1 victory over Kira Young in the Uganda Premier League.

“It is a pleasure for me to move to this position. It will be challenging but I am ready for the job,” Mubiru stated.

Mubiru also noted that although the club has various targets to achieve, he will make sure that he executes his role in a professional manner to achieve success.

“But my first task as a coach will be to manage the transition since my colleague has left,” the coach added.

His first match as the head coach is due on Friday.

KCCA will face Express in the Uganda Premier League at Wankukululu.

Mubiru was head coach at Proline FC from 2011 to 2012 before he took on a new assignment as Nsimbe’s assistant.

He was previously assistant to Mike Mutebi at the Lugogo-based club in 2004.

Mubiru and Nsimbe led the club to the Uganda Premier League title last season and the FUFA Super Cup.

Nsimbe was handed an autographed club jersey by the club legends and officials during the half-time of the game against Kira Young at the Philip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
