WILLIAM Blick has promised not to antagonise anyone but try to spread the spirit of sportsmanship through the different camps, after being confirmed as the Uganda Olympic Committee president.

In his acceptance speech after the returning officer Kenneth Kitariko announced that all the nominations for the different positions were unopposed, Blick promised to see to it that a repeat of what happened to the past elections, where almost all the main executive members were expelled from office.

President Rogers Ddungu, Vice president Abbey Mubiru and William Tumwine, treasurer Omara Geno and assistant secretary Oneg P’Minga were all expelled for putting the sport in disrepute.

“But I believe that we will have a change. We cannot exist without the federations and we will do everything to see that Uganda Olympic Committee is not a battle field but an arena for sportsmanship and friendship,” said Blick.

He promised to support Gabriel Oloka at the Africa National Olympic Committee Associations executive and Salim Musoke at the Africa weightlifting among others.

Blick said that the problems with the government will also be settled, as they are basically operational.

“We will need a meeting and we will solve them.”

Blick will be deputised by Ambrose Tashobya and Dennis Galabuzi as vice presidents with Don Rukare becoming the general secretary and Dunstan Nsubuga his assistant.

Godfrey Nuwagaba maintains the treasurer’s post.

The members on the committee include Sadiq Nasiwu, Sharafah Sanyu, Sheila Agonzibwa and Moses Mwase.
