Senior Six performance improves

The overall performance of candidates in last year’s national examinations show that a very high percentage of candidates (99.3%), qualified for the award of UACE. In 2011, this was 99.2%.

At the lowest cumulative performance from Four Principal passes to Two Principal passes; which is the minimum requirement for admission into any university in the country, the performance was better than that of last year.  

Last year, there were 65,417 (64%) candidates who managed to pass between   Four Principal Passes and Two Principal passes. But, with the newly released results, the number shot up to 76,151 (69.4%).

At Three and Four Principals passes, male candidates performed better than the females. However, the proportion of females at the critical Two Principal pass mark and above, females beat males.

In terms of percentages, female candidates performed better than males at the A to E level in Entrepreneurship Education, Islamic Religious Education, Christian Religious Education, Geography, and Literature in English, Agriculture and Biology.

Meanwhile, male candidates were better in Economics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Art. Males’ performance in history was the same as that of females.

There was also noted improvement in History, Entrepreneurship Education, Geography, and Literature in English, Chemistry and Biology. However, Economics, Christian Religious Education, Islamic Religious Education, Mathematics, Physics, Agriculture dropped in performance at the Principal level passes.
