The Briton who died after he bled profusely from a Chez Johnson hotel room in Muyenga an upscale Kampala suburb left a suicide note.

Police deputy spokesperson Vincent Ssekate revealed that the British High Commission had been notified about the incident.

Elder Bruce Ferguson's mother and relatives have been informed and are expected to fly into the country to help with the investigations.

The note according to Ssekate, the deceased said "that he had cut his veins on both hands and bled to death because; "my girlfriend Martha has stolen all my money."

Ssekate quoting hotel staff said Ferguson has been a regular visitor at the hotel and his passport indicated that he flew into the country last October. "This is a man who has been coming in and going out of the country," a member of staff told Police.

Ssekate added; "The hotel staff told us that they saw him always writing. They did not know what exactly he was doing but they suspected he was writing a book."  Sources said Ferguson was a teacher in Ethiopia but he had reportedly lost his contract.

Officials at the British High Commission confirmed knowledge of Ferguson's death. A female official who declined to reveal her identity but referred to herself as the High Commissioner Alison Blackburne's spokesperson said; "we are liaising with the Police over the matter."

The official declined to say what Ferguson was doing in Uganda and whether his body would be transported back home.
She only said the Mission was in touch with Ferguson's family. "We cannot give any more details about this matter because the family has not authorized us to do so."

New Vision Tuesday broke the story of Ferguson's death which Police has confirmed there is a woman in the picture. Police said Ferguson lost a lot of blood from wounds he sustained on his hands and he died as they rushed him to hospital.

"He cut both his hands and bled. When he realized that he had lost a lot of blood, he notified the hotel staff but it was too late," Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Ibin Ssenkumbi told New Vision on Monday.

Sources said Ferguson went to one of the bars in Kabalagala, a posh city suburb, where he had fun and he retired to his hotel room with a woman. By press time, Ferguson's body was still at the Mulago mortuary.
