Skilled players Richard Geria and Edwin Mugisha lived up to their status with a dominant performance on the domestic stage in the just concluded scrabble season.

Geria won the Scrabble on the Nile tournament for the third time in a row. The title was his 6th out of 12 tournaments held during the season.

Mugisha also produced a brilliant display to take the top awards in the Biggs, Mukagwa, Public Holiday and the Uganda Jubilee tournaments.

On the international stage, the player defeated 2009 world champion Pakorn Nemitrmansuk from Poland in a world event held in Malaysia.

Later, Mugisha finished 7th at the African Championships in Zambia. He also took on other top players at the Godwill Akpabio International Classic in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, in a bid to develop the game further, the Scrabble Association of Uganda organised various tournaments in institutions of learning.

Elsewhere, three more clubs joined action stretching the number to 13.

The scrabble body had a smooth election process with Chrisostom Kalibbala bouncing back as the leader.
