The U-19 national team lived up to expectations by winning all their three group stages fixtures and a semifinal without conceding any point to storm the final of the Safaricom7s U-19 girls’ category at the East African Rugby Grounds.

The team that traveled without coach Allan Musoke due to a tight schedule was coached by team manager and Rugby 7s team captain Brenda Kayiyi.

The youngsters defied all odds that included poor preparation and poor food to thrash Western Province 35-0 in their opening fixture before smashing Comras 14-0. They also whipped Nyanza province 39-0 to storm the semi –final.

In the Semi-final, the girls beat Maono 29-0 in the game that saw a Maono player carried off the pitch and rushed to hospital after being tackled by the Uganda players.

Ivyone Najuma and Emilly Leku scored two tries each While Rita Najumba added a try and Juliet Nandawula managed two conversions.

“This is great performance for us and we are just waiting for the final. Its now time to forget the results of today’s games and focus on correcting our mistakes ahead of Friday's final,” Coach Kayiyi stated.

Uganda waits to face in the final the winner between Rift Valley and Central.

The team wis sponsored by Gulu Rugby Club who contributed sh2m, fans (sh1.5m) and Uganda Rugby Union(sh4m).
