The Democratic Party (DP) has said that it is embarking on a plan to legally have president Yoweri Museveni take scientific tests to prove his real age.

DP President, Norbert Mao said that the age (70) that was recently celebrated by the first family is different from the age of 74 that is known to them.

“According to the records we have, it is not true that Mr. Museveni is only 70 years of age. Our research indicates that the man should be 74 years by now because he was 73 years last year as the celebrations organized by Uganda Young Democrats indicated.”

Police in 2012 arrested a group of youth in Masaka who were purporting to celebrate President Museveni’s birthday. It is not anywhere on record that the president, who was 68 years old then, ever celebrated a birthday.

Mao said that they intend to extract a court order forcing the president to take a scientific test if the question of age of the first citizen will ever be resolved.

“Today if people can tell the age of a skeleton through a lab test, why not that of a walking man like the president We know he will not willing take the test but we shall go to court for an order to force him to go to the laboratory.” Mao said.
He added that, they doubt his age because in his book sowing the mustard seed, Museveni indicated speculation of his date of birth.

“In sowing the mustard seed, he speculated the year he was born yet according to the records in Der-la-salaam that we have, and sources like the late Boniface Byanyima, he should be 74years by now.”

He however noted that the purpose is not to malice the president but to have a fact figure that will help them determine whether the incumbent president will be eligible for nomination in the coming 2016 general elections.

Last week president Yoweri Museveni celebrated his 70th birthday with family and close relatives at his country home in Rwakitura.
