AS supporters of the newly elected Kyabazinga of Busoga, Prince William Gabula Nadiope IV prepare for his enthronement scheduled for Saturday police has massively deployed in the region to avoid saboteurs and any kind of criminal offences bound to happen.

Andrew Felix Kaweesi, the newly appointed director of Police operations noted that they have massively deployed the police force, military and using intelligence to get rid of any chaos that may arise in the region.

During a press conference on Thursday at Crest Crane hotel in Jinja district, Kaweesi explained that they will also be supported by the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF).

It was attended by the Jinja Resident District Commissioner, Richard Gulume, the Regional Intelligence Officer, Deo Kagoro, officers from UPDF and the police.

“As security we are more than ready to ensure the enthronement event on Saturday goes uninterrupted because we have all the standing orders unless there are standing legal orders which we shall respect.”

“If the enthronement will happen or not we have already secured the venue in Bugembe because we have intelligence information that there are groups of people and even some leaders who are planning to sabotage the function,” he said.

Kaweesi noted that they have heavily deployed police in black spots like Kaliro, Kamuli Namtumba, Iganga and Jinja accesses.

Kaweesi warned the public over coming up with inciting messages either in contest or support of any faction that might attract or threaten individuals or tribal conflict saying anyone found will be apprehended.

Kaweesi further warned the media fraternity with personal interests towards the Kyabazingaship adding that any journalist found involved would be arrested.

“We don’t mind which media house you report for but once we arrest you then we shall also close the media house because we expect you to be neutral and professional to inform the people,” he warned.

Kaweesi said some civil servants and police officers whether loyal or not had been warned to stop using government vehicles to promote their interests adding that they should apply for a formal leave of office until the ceremonies are finished.

“I have a list of these civil servants who are using government vehicles but you stand warned and any police officer who will involve in any sort of faction should be equally warned,” he said.

However Kaweesi said that they have information that groups from Kampala have been organized to go to Kaliro to incite violence so that they are branded to be supporters of Nadiope.

He urged supporters of the new king that as they celebrate to be mindful of reckless driving and attacks because some princes who voted have been threatened.

“We have provided a police officer to each of the prince who voted for Nadiope because they have already received threatening messages and they have reported to police,” he said.

By press time a section of the rival Kyabazinga prince Columbus Wambuzi had sought a court injunction to block the enthronement but the case was adjourned.
