Forum for Democratic Change president Kizza Besigye has been restricted at his Kasangati home in Wakiso district as Uganda celebrates golden jubilee.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Andrew Felix Kawesa told New Vision Tuesday morning that Besigye neither under house nor preventive arrest but the deployment at his home was to restrict his movements.

Besigye who had earlier talked to the New Vision said he was sick and could speak for long.

“It is unfair that a true and a free citizen of this country cannot be allowed to go and attend the Independence celebrations at Kololo,” Besigye said.

Both Besigye and the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago have been blocked from leaving their homes.

They were both arrested last week arrested twice and cautioned for disobeying lawful orders.

This after the Government banned opposition political gatherings as the country celebrates its Golden Jubilee.
