KIBAALE - A 30-year old woman, who has given birth to triplets at St. Ambrose Charity health center, is in dire need.
Keduresi Tumuhimbise, who looked exhausted, told the New Vision that she did not expect to have three babies because during antenatal care she was told that she would deliver twins.
“I was surprised to have three babies because I left home knowing that I wouldl have twins but thank God they are all alive,” said Tumuhimbise.

Tumuhimbise, a peasant and resident of Paacwa village in Paacwa Sub County in KibaTumuhimbise, the mother of triplets already has four childrenale district gave birth to three girls by caesarian section.
“I was operated upon because I was so weak,” said Tumuhimbise.
The medical officer at St. Ambrose health center, Paul Owere, said that the mother was operated upon in order to get out the babies safely and also save her life.
“She was completely exhausted by the time she was brought to the health center and we immediately had a caesarian,” said Owere.
But Tumuhimbise said that the burden now is how to look after these triplets on top of the other four children.
“We are peasants who depend entirely on agriculture and yet these children require special attention,” she said.
Health workers described Tumuhimbise as a heroine because some mothers fail to seek medical help and end up losing their lives and the newborns.
“This lady is indeed a heroine because if she had remained in the village and sought for assistance from the traditional birth attendants she wouldn’t have survived and even the babies,” said Owere.
