Simon Oryem notched the winning penalty as Gulu district edged out neigbhours Oyam 4-2 in the final of the Obua-Otti Cup that ended in a shoot-out after the two sides had played to a goalless draw over the weekend.

Consequently Gulu walked away with the inaugural top-prize of sh2m, a giant bull and a trophy after the final played at Uganda Technical College Lira over the weekend.

FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa handed the prizes to Gulu captain Peter Okello with a promise to make the event, in memory of former Cranes stars Denis Obua and David Otti, annual.

“Obua and Otti’s memorial cup shall be played annually to support development of grassroot talents in memory of their contribution to football,” Mulindwa said before handing over the trophy.
