Tianjin Arts Troupe of China performs in Uganda

The China-Uganda bond seems to grow stronger by the day. This was witnessed last Saturday evening as the Tianjin Arts Troupe, from the Tian Jin Huo Yuan Jia martial arts school in China performed at the National Theatre.

The event kicked off at around 7:00pm after the arrival of the chief guest, Maria Mutagamba, Uganda’s minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities as well as the Chinese ambassador to Uganda, His Excellency Zhao Yali.

The troupe performed various Chinese indigenous cultural acts ranging from martial arts, dance, acrobatics and music. Real entertainment kicked off with a magical martial arts display dubbed ‘the soul of martial arts’ as the actors skillfully whirled fans and red silk.

The entire audience; including the chief guest were astonished by the perfect moves of the Chinese youngsters who made everything appear too good to be true. The major highlights of the show were real Kung-Fu and Tai-chi displays as for a moment, it all seemed like we were watching a live Chinese Kung-Fu movie.

Showcasing high level physical fitness

Also captivating was ‘Ballet on Shoulders’, an acrobatic ballet dance performance by Li Xin and Ma Hong. These two were perfect in every move, making the audience respond in endless cheers, yearning for more.

Later on, the martial arts performers showcased different Chinese traditional weaponry and how they are used. These included swords, whips and spears among others.

Curtains came down on the show close to 9:00pm with all the revellers amazed at how rich the Chinese culture is, judging from what was displayed at the event.
