The former contender for Bukoto central constituency Parliamentary seat Jude Mbabaali has petitioned the Constitutional Court seeking to remove Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi alleging that he violated the Constitution during the Parliamentary election campaigns.

Mbabaali seeks to remove Ssekandi from his Parliamentary seat and his position as Vice President, alleging that he violated the Constitution when he used five Government vehicles that he filled with fuel paid by the Government during the election campaigns.

He also accuses Ssekandi of violating the Constitution when he used his police guards as Speaker of Parliament then and intimidated, harassed, arrested and beat him during their election campaigns.

The petitioner also seeks a declaration that Ssekandi breached the Constitution when he refused to hand-over to Parliament Government vehicle Registration No UG 0069H under the false claim it was donated to him by the Parliamentary Commission.

However,  Mbabaali had initially filed an election petition No 19 of 2011 in the High Court at Masaka, but he withdrew it  under unclear circumstances, a decision that created controversy among his supporters and Democratic Party as whole in Masaka.
