The leader of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party Dr. Kizza Besigye has alleged that Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) demolition of Kiosks in the city center is aimed at getting opposition supporters out of Kampala.

Addressing journalists from the Lord Mayor's office at the KCCA headquarters in Kampala, Besigye said that the only way to pay back peoples support for the opposition is by having lunch from their kiosks which KCCA is demolishes.

"I have had lunch from park yard in Owino market to show support to my people and to tell them that their evictions are meant to drive them off from supporting the opposition which we shall not allow," Besigye said.

Speaking at the same conference, Erias Lukwago the Kampala Lord Mayor, said that KCCA demolitions of kiosks have never been discussed and approved by the council.

"KCCA has never taken any decisions to demolish kiosks and chase vendors out of Kampala. I challenge those carrying out demolitions to produce minutes," Lukwago said.

He said the President would not have come to the rescue of park yard vendors after the fire that gutted their merchandize.

"The President promised vendors money for redevelopment on his visit after the fire. It is because it has not been delivered that's why many vendors are on streets languishing," Lukwago said.
