Kampala City Council Football Club finally has its own home.

This follows Bell Uganda Super League’s clearance of the club’s Lugogo stadium as fit to host the competition’s matches.

In a release about next week’s matches, USL confirmed clearance of the Lugogo facility that will be officially launched with a league game between KCC and reigning champions URA on Tuesday.

KCC was initially supposed to have kicked off the 2011-12 league last year in the stadium but a USL inspection found the facility lacking in basics like a perimeter wall.

The ground also lacked a fence separating the stands from the field and proper drainage. These have all since been put in place.

KCC has since promotion into the top league in 1974 been one of several teams using Nakivubo War Memorial stadium as its home ground. News of the new home has thrilled the club’s faithful.

“This is probably the best news I have got this season. There is nothing better than having a home where you are in control,” noted KCC coach Morley Byekwaso.

The eight time league champions indeed need the home advantage that the new ground brings. They are currently in sixth position in the 16 team race. KCC in 2006 became one of the first Ugandan clubs to own a stadium. This followed an offer from a South African enterprise Shoprite to construct the stadium.

Meanwhile URA beat Masaka 1-0 on Friday to qualify for their fourth Uganda Cup finals. Moses Feni scored the away winner.
