IT seems Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba, the outspoken Makerere University don, is done paying lip service on how the Government can improve the lives of the poor.

IT seems Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba, the outspoken Makerere University don, is done paying lip service on how the Government can improve the lives of the poor.

He now wants to be in charge of safe guarding workers’ hard-earned money. We have it on good authority that the former MUASA chairman has applied for the job of managing director at National Social Security Fund (NSSF).

Nuwagaba played a leading role in establishing Makerere University Retirement Benefit Scheme, for which he has been chairman since 2005.

The proffessor, who is lauded for his intergrity, is also well known for his unflinching campaign against corruption. NSSF has lately been in the spotlight over mismanagement of funds.

Nuwagaba has done constancies for the UN, World Bank and the Government through his Reev Consult. He holds a Masters degree in economics from the London School of Economics and a PhD from Makerere University.
