Proud father
Former local government minister Bidandi Ssali is a proud man because he is a father to one of Uganda’s top musicians. Recently, he told his party supporters that he is a very proud father after his son becoming a music star in the country. Because he is ‘taata munene’, Bidandi believes he is the right candidate to be voted as the next President of Uganda since he is no longer looking for school fees. “I am the right candidate for the presidency, because you all know my home, I have no children who still need school fees. My children are grown up, and they are now the munenes of this country,” he told his enthusiastic fans.

Corruption is Ok
Most people fear being convicted for corruption because they think it will tarnish their image. But for Tingey county MP Herbert Sabila thinks being convicted for corruption is normal. Last week, he told his colleagues who were congratulating him upon being reappointed as vice chairperson for the parliamentary committee on legal affairs that corruption is normal. “Being convicted of corruption is a normal thing. It happens in a home where a child breaks a glass; does it mean you beat that child?” Sabila asked. Sabila was referring to his conviction for corruption in the Anti-corruption Court.

Women solidarity
Information and national guidance minister Kabakumba Matsiko is a staunch supporter of the NRM and President Museveni. But on issues of women, she puts party politics aside. On Monday, during a women’s conference, wondered why women have not expressed interest to contest for the presidency. She promised to support any female candidate. “I have not heard of any woman declaring to contest for the presidency. We must show solidarity on issues affecting women,” she said.

Afande Mallinga
Health minister Dr. Stephen Mallinga is a Jack of all trades. On Tuesday during Parliament proceedings, he told his colleagues that he is a doctor by profession and a soldier who has been a lieutenant, captain, and colonel. What amused them was that Mallinga demanded that they address him by those ranks. Amused, Kasilo MP Elijah Okupa immediately stood up and said: “Honourable Doctor, Captain, Lieutenant, Colonel Mallinga, in which army school did you attain those ranks?” he said sending the legislators into prolonged laughter.
