Mogas and NEMA, tell us!

EDITOR: I am concerned about the location of the Mogas fuel depot at Banda. The huge tanks pose a big threat to the densely populated area. Hundreds of lives could be lost and property massively destroyed.

Besides, the Kinawataka wetland that stretches below the depot is also under threat. Petroleum is a liquid and infiltrates the soil, ending up in the wetland which stretches to Lake Victoria!

The effect may not be immediate but in the long-run it will become a big threat to the wetland and all the biodiversity in both ecosystems. I still wonder how Mogas got a licence from NEMA.

It is unethical and criminal for any petroleum activity to be operated near or within a water system because of the pollution risk it poses. The public has complained about this for long but there is no answer!
