STUDENTS in private teacher training institutes have asked the government to consider paying for their tuition, as they do their colleagues in government owned institutions.

They argued that though they study in private institutions, they contribute to national development and have the potential to excel.

“We are grateful to government for putting in place an environment that allows private institutes to thrive alongside the government-owned colleges. We also appreciate the support given.

But we request that students from the private institutes also be considered for government sponsorship,” said Yesero Nabongho, one of the 87 teachers who graduated from Jinja Education Centre, Kagoma, a private institute in Jinja district.
