A 24-year-old youth vying for the Mawokota North seat in Mpigi district, arrived at the nominations on Thursday perched on a motorbike.

After he was endorsed Edward Ssemambo, an independent candidate fresh from the Law Development Centre, said: “A leader’s role is to serve, not to be a boss. If one arrives in a big car, it means he is not ready to serve the people.”

But he faces an uphill task of beating former Principal Private Secretary to the President Amelia Kyambadde and incumbent, Peter Claver Mutuluza.

Kenneth Kiyingi Bbosa, 26, kicked off the nominations at 9:00am. A holder of a masters degree in Business Administration, Bbosa, also an independent, argued that this was the time for the youth to take leadership positions.

He later had lunch with hundreds of his supporters in Nkozi.

Returning officer Sarah Bukirwa cleared eight candidates, paving way for their campaigns, which start after December 16.
