That’s the message from a study released Tuesday which finds that public health campaigns have done little to dent the inexorable rise in obesity and diabetes among Americans over the past decade.

Quite the contrary, in fact. The percentage of obese Americans increased a whopping 74% between 1991 and 2001, according to a survey by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia.
