Four people were killed and hundreds of cattle raided by the Jie and Pian Karimojong in four separate incidents in Moroto, Kumi and Kapchorwa districts.

Four people were killed and hundreds of cattle raided by the Jie and Pian Karimojong in four separate incidents in Moroto, Kumi and Kapchorwa districts.
The UPDF 3rd Division commander, Col. Sula Ssemakula, said the latest raid occurred on Saturday night at Lopei valley along Moroto-Kotido highway when the Jie attacked the Bokora. They killed four people and injured two others.
He said the Jie had earlier attacked the Bokora in Lokopo sub-county, taking a large herd of cattle.
Ssemakula said suspected Pian Karimojong carried out two raids in Kumi and Kapchorwa districts on Friday night and took 30 head of cattle.
Kumi district council chairman Ismael Orot said the raiders attacked Malera sub-county on the the day eastern region leaders were meeting in Katakwi to discuss Karimojong incursions into neighbouring districts.
“They took 15 head of cattle from Malera,” Orot said. He said Kumi was demanding 49 head of cattle raided by the Pian.
Kapchorwa chairman Nelson Chelimo said the raiders attacked Tumboboyi parish, Kaptanya sub-county on Friday night and took 15 head of cattle.
Meanwhile, the UPDF are hunting for Karimojong warriors who killed 30 people in Orum and Adwari sub-counties in Lira district.
Lira resident district commissioner Charles Egou Engwau said several people were killed. Ends
