A former player Deo Mawano was on Saturday elected unopposed as the new Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) chairman.

Forty-five delegates gave the Kampala dental surgeon a two-year mandate at the association’s general assembly at Lugogo, Kampala.

Mawano takes over from Elijah Zizinga who declined to stand after serving one term.

The new boss will in the new few days pick other executives members as dictated by the constitution.

Mawano takes over the top job after rendering valuable financial assistance to the association.

He could pick his team from people like Francis Mulinda and Emmanuel Matsyetsye, the former vice chairman and secretary respectively in the old executive.
