Scientists have created the first mammalian gametes from embryonic stem cells

Scientists have created the first mammalian gametes from embryonic stem cells.

Mouse stem cells were placed in petri dishes and grew into oocytes, then embryos, according to a study published in the journal Science on Friday.

The results show that even outside the body, embryonic stem cells could generate any body tissue, according to lead researcher, Hans Schoeler of the University of Pennsylvania.
