DEFENCE state minister Ruth Nankabirwa has enrolled for a Masters degree course at Makerere University.
The minister (right) revealed this while addressing residents of Gayaza sub-county during their belated Women’s day celebrations recently.
She said the problem of terrorism, weapons of mass destruction and escalating wars required the intervention of professionals in conflict management whom she said were very few.
“This will be a marketable degree because the modern world is in urgent need of professional people to resolve international disagreements without using military force,’’ Nankabirwa said.
The minister said she had been upset by the wars in Iraq, the Democratic Republic of Congo and northern Uganda, which had inflicted a lot of suffering on people especially the women and children.
She said wars increased poverty.
