THE Ministry of Education and Sports has unearthed 200 ghost teachers in secondary schools, Parliament heard on Thursday, writes Vision Reporter.

The Permanent Secretary, Francis Lubanga, told MPs on the social services committee that ‘ghost’ teachers were identified during the verification exercise done by the Department of Secondary Education.

Lubanga, all the ministers for education, and other technocrats were appearing before the committee to respond to questions raised by MPs on the ministry policy statement and budget.

He said the ministry officials detected inconsistencies in the wage bill and paid secret visits to schools to establish the problem. He said the ministry had also used security personnel.
