Women who change partners between their first two births face twice the risk of having a premature, underweight baby, compared to women who have had the same partner for both children, a study says.

Researchers looked at the background, health and fertility history of 31,683 women in Norway who changed partner between their first two births and compared that with the records of 456,458 women who had had the same partner for two births. The study was published in the British Medical Journal.
