IT is strange that teachers who have been trained in child psychology can discriminate against gender in schools. I recently sat at the reception of Vienna College Namugongo, an “international school†which lays off a head teacher every year and I couldn’t believe what I saw on the walls.
Vienna is a mixed boarding secondary school, now phasing out the UNEB curriculum to adopt the Cambridge system.
Ninety-nine per cent of the photographs on the wall were of female students.
How do the boys feel? Even most of the students’ laid out Art work on the walls was signed by female students! Is that fair?
