The deal was that 40 in-laws were to attend the introduction ceremony of Anna and Bosco at her parents’ home in Luwero last Saturday.

Anna’s family was all set for the 40 visitors but was overwhelmed when Bosco turned up with 70 people.

Because exactly 40 seats had been reserved, the rest of the in-laws stood for over 30 minutes as they waited for seats in vain.

And when the ceremony began, the spokesman for Anna’s side, only identified as Zabulon started by demanding from his counterpart, a Wamusi, why he had turned up with ‘his whole clan’.

Wamusi’s explanation that it was an oversight fell on deaf ears and he coughed a fine of sh100,000.

The in-laws’ woes had just started, however. After paying the fine, Zabulon immediately demanded that the excess in-laws leave the tent for the ceremony to proceed. Pleas by Wamusi that the visitors had made a long journey all the way from Manafwa fell on deaf ears.

After about an hour the in-laws sorted themselves out and the excess visitors were told to leave the venue. Hungry and angry, they smartly moved out, cursing whoever was responsible.

The ceremony, however, proceeded smoothly.
