Gulu district is to buy 3,000 acres of land to resettle the vulnerable persons abandoned in the internally displaced people’s camps. District chairman Norbert Mao at a meeting with over 100 non-governmental organisations on Wednesday said the old, orphaned and child-headed families were stranded at the camps.
He urged the land owners of the former camps to be sympathetic and not charge the people still in the camps ground rent as the Government was planning on paying them reparation.
